On a beautiful fall day - temps in the mid-70's and no wind - the UW men's alumni fielded five eights over an 800-meter course for Alumni Race Day on Saturday, September 22. Entrants included rowers from Milwaukee, Madison, invited guests from the Lincoln Park Boat Club in Chicago and the Mendota Boat Club. The winning eight, after USRowing adjustments for differences in average boating ages among the five entries by Coach Clark, was a repeat victory from last year by the largely Milwaukee alumni "Donkey Punch" entry. That boating: Jim Ricksecker (bow), Tom Schuchardt, Larry Trotter, John Hallett, Lou Schueller, Eric Mueller, Fred Robertson, Al Erickson (stroke) and Hal Menendez (cox) in an unadjusted time of 2:00.8. "Team Carnage", absent Nelson "Trash Mouth" Williams, who excused himself for a wedding, finished fourth. Fourth from the left, in the back row, is team coach Ken Nelson.
